Jesus Loves Me in Concert

Little Hannah loves to be the center of attention. We had the family over for Labor Day (all the aunts/uncles, cousins, etc.). Hannah had been a little jumping bean and we were trying to think of things to help her settle down some, so we suggested she sing for everyone. She was glad to lift her litle voice to the Lord! It is so precious to hear children sing!

Yes, Abigail is my bug scientist! We were at a friend's house when Abigail discovered a caterpillar. She wanted to bring it home and since she has a bug cage, we decided it would be okay. After the caterpillar had been there only one night, it already transformmed into the chrsalis (cocoon to her). We waited only a few short weeks before it turned into a beautiful butterfly. She was so excited! She had been checking on her cocoon every morning just hoping one day she would find a butterfly and she finally did. The hard part came when I had to convince her that she really needed to let it go so that it would have a better chance of surviving. She relunctly let it go, but was excited to watch it fly off. The butterfly even flew back towards us about 10 minutes later, almost as if to say thank you!

Time for School

Abigail and Hannah are attending Discovery School this year. It is a Christian preschool that they attend 3 days a week. I am very excited about the program for both girls. Since we have to get up before the crack of dawn, we took the girls' first day school pics the night before.

This summer Mimi gave the girls swim lessons at Saginaw City Pool area. I was a little nervous about Hannah at first, because last year she did not like the water at all. I knew Abigail would be like a fish in water and she did not disappoint me! Hannah was a little shy the first day of lessons, but I think her sister encouraged her being in the same class and she loved it! The hardest part was reminding the girls to wait their turn with the instructor when swimming of jumping in the pool! Abigail was constantly going underwater and having so much fun.

Carnival Time

In April, Northwood Church in Keller hosted a spring carnival. We were a little surprised by the price of things, but we did let the girls ride a few rides. They had an absolute blast. Abigail rode the big ferris wheel with her daddy (mommy is not crazy about big rides). Hannah wanted to ride with Sissy on all the rides and was content to let Abigail ride in the front each time.

The girls enjoy riding their motorized car (they call it the motorcycle) they got for Christmas from Mimi and BeBob. There are many days that pretend to be hunting bugs (especially Abigail). They are so cute riding together.

Just Catching Up March 2010

I have had the chance to add a few entries to the blog with hopefully more to come. At this time Shawn has gotten a job in his IT field. Currently it is part-time, but it has great potential to go full-time. He is mainly working with churches, servicing computers, setting up networks, and trouble-shooting. He also goes to the Southern Baptist Convention as well. We are hoping this will be a great opportunity for him to use his skills. He will begin teaching a class on Monday, March 22 at a college. It will be a 3 1/2 week class teaching IT. I have been busy with subbing. This semester has proved to be much more productive than last as I have been able to know more of the personnel at the schools, who in turn have called me back for more jobs. I will starting a long-term maternity leave sub towards the end of April and I will doing a 2 week sub job starting Monday. April 1 I can sign up for the job fair in Keller and hopefully other districts as well. We are praying for a teaching position. It would be nice to know something this summer so I know where I will start for the fall. As for this summer, I am not sure what I will be doing yet. I would like to take a trip to visit friends in Florida, though. God has been very faithful even when I have not been. He is our constant provider and has shown His grace and mercy numerous times. The girls are growing up so fast. It is hard to believe that Abigail will be 5 this year and Hannah will be 3 in July! It has been so fun watching them grow to love each other and play with each other more and more each day and just develop that wonderful sister bond. I pray they can always be that close. Abigail continues to amaze me with what she absorbs and learns. She has learned the books of the New Testament and was awarded a Bible for her hard work in Sunday School! Hannah is my little lover. She showers me with kisses and big bear hugs. She is sister's little shadow and seeks to please with kindness and politeness. She loves being the helper. We are hoping to start both in school this fall with Hannah going 2 or 3 days and Abigail going 3 or more. I think with what Abigail has already learned and I have taught her at home, she will love school. Both girls love books and being read to and reading to me, too! God is so good!

More Snow!

After the snow for Christmas Eve, we were very surprised to receive 12 inches in 2010! It is rare to get snow and especially so much! I had to teach one day, but the streets really were not that bad. I did get to leave early so it made it better. When I returned home, I found that the girls had built their own snowman with Nana. I got to take them back out for a little bit and build one more snowman. During this time the electricity also went out on our whole street which made it quite chilly inside the house. We made it one night under several layers of blankets and the next day decided to not risk it coming back on (my parents had lost for power for a whole week last summer after a big storm) and we went to Mimi and Be-Bobs while my parents went to my Uncle Kenneth's house. That afternoon it was not so bad and we decided to stop back by the house int he evening and the electricity was back on! We had fun in the snow while it lasted.

Fall or Winter Fun?

Since it had snowed in December, we decided all the leaves from the huge oak tree needed to be raked and bagged before it might snow again. The weather here in Texas can be sporadic, so the leaves didn't drop in the fall, but rather the winter. The girls decided to help us raking.

Never a Dull Moment

Although most of the time the girls will take their rest and even nap, there are other times behind close doors that I have to wonder what goes on in the girls' room. One afternoon I happened to open to door at the end of nap time and low and behold, I discovered the two girls had been working sneakily together to reaarange Hannah's bed. Just take a look.

Yesterday (Wednesday) was 75 degrees and sunny until the afternoon. Today started in the 40s and raining, then the temperature began to drop and it began to snow. Only in Texas! Our famous saying here is, "If you don't like the weather, just stick around because it will change!" The girls were very excited and we let them play outside in the snow for a little while. Yes, I know for those of you who are used to a lot of snow, it is no big deal, but for us Texans a few inches is a great big deal! So here's some pics and even a video later showing our White Christmas Eve and probably Christmas morning!

Cuties and Cookies and Thanksgiving

Since being back in Texas we have enjoyed going to new parks, enjoying Mommy's favorite ice cream shop (Milwaulkee Joe's rules!) and making turkey hand cookies for Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving was a bit different for me this year, as I had laparascopy surgery the day before Thanksgiving. I tried to help cut up some fruit for the fruit salad, but pretty much stayed in bed until it was time to eat. Then I was back in bed to recover. Hey, really I talked it over with my doctor and planned it that way so I could get out of the work. Just kidding! We are so thankful that everything went great with my surgery and they completely removed the paraovarian cyst with no damage to anything. I have made a full recovery and feel so much better! We are thankful for most of all God and His provision for our family and blessing us with two wonderful girls. We are also so thankful that our family has taken us back in and are helping us during this time of transition.

For two fall fests! My parents' church and Shawn's parents' church both held a fall festival. The girls were so excited. Abigail dressed up like a princess and Hannah was Tinkerbelle. The candy was very appealing and some of the games, but the biggest attraction at both places were the horse rides!

Pumpkin Patch

In October we took the girls to the Pumpkin Patch over in Flower Mound. It was supposed to be a warmer day but ended up being quite chilly and dreary outside. It was very muddy, too. Because a lot of schools were taking their students out there, we didn't stay very long. But the girls got to play a little on the bounce house stuff and look around at the pumpkins and different characters.

Abigail Turns 4

We decided to celebrate a lot for our precious little-big girl! Perhaps we had guilty parent syndrome and felt bad because we had just left a place that had been familiar to Abigail where her friends were, who knows? I think we here just turning 4, she probably didn't know much different. But for her birthday, we took her to IHOP for breakfast and had smiley face pancakes, which were huge! Later that evening she got to go to Chuck E. Cheese's - where a kid can be a kid! I'm sorry, but that place stresses me out. I know it might be secure with the front door and checking numbers that are invisible, but it is so hard to keep up with both the girls! Shawn takes one and I take the other, but keeping up with moving targets can be difficult. Well, enough about that, the girls had a fabulous time. Hannah did not enjoy meeting Chuck E. We had a great evening and then a few days later celebrated with a party.

Abigail's 4th Birthday Party

Abigail had been talking about her 4th birthday ever since Hannah turned 2 in July. Abigail knew exactly what kind of cake - a princess cake. She went back and forth a little from pink to yellow, but finally chose Belle. Of course I wanted to make the cake. The Belle doll ended up being taller than expected, so I had to make it a four layer cake! So thankful it did not topple over! We had a wonderful time just being the fam for this bday. Abigail and Hannah were the guest princesses and after hamburgers, cake and presents, we danced the night away. I can't believe my precious first-born is already 4. Abigail, you are so special to Mommy and I love every minute of being with you and watching you grow. I pray that as you grow in years, you can also grow in the knowledge and love of Christ. I love you, my precious princess!

Too Long

Yes, it has been way too long since I have sent out an update. So much has happened since the last entry. As many of you know, we have since moved to Texas (as of September 25). We don't have our own place yet, but we have enjoyed the time we have gotten to spend with family. We are making up for all the lost time we were away in Florida! The girls are doing great! Abigail had her 4th birthday shortly after we moved back. Hannah, as you will notice, is starting to lose that baby look in her face. (boo hoo for Mommy!) Shawn has been taking computer classes and is certified in A+, Network+, Security+, something else+ and is now working on his MCSE. That's a short abbreviation for a very important computer skill dealing with Microsoft Administration. Just a little over my head! I have been subbing back in my old district, Keller. I am hoping that a full time teaching position will open up someday. We have been visiting many different churches, as the Metroplex has changed and grown tremendously since we were last here. Okay, now onto the good stuff with pics!

Cupcake Night

In preparation for Abigail's birthday in October, I thought it would be a good idea to try out the flavor of cake before I made it for her birthday. I tried a lemon cake and made cupcakes for the girls tonight. They got to frost and add sprinkles. Of course little Hannah dug right in with no qualms about getting messy. Mommy joined in the fun and then Abigail tried to, but she could only stand a few seconds before she was hollering about being messy and get it off! They had fun and I think lemon will be the flavor of Abigail's Belle cake.

Ballet and Tumbling

Abigail has been taking tumbling classes this summer and a couple of weeks ago we switched to ballet/tumbling. She really enjoys the class and has learned quite a bit. At the beginning of class they warm up with stretches, then practicing their ballet steps and points and later tumbling. Her summer class ended by playing duck, duck, goose. She is such a cutie!

Snakes at the Zoo

When we visited the zoo a couple of weeks ago we had it all to ourselves for at least an hour. We haven't been to the Crestview zoo in over a year. They had added some new animals like two white Bengal tigers and then a Bermese python. The zoo worker brought it out for us to see and touch. The girls were actually quite interested in the snake. Abigail even asked to hold it!

The Best Kind of Snake

Just wanted to show the best kind of snake that appeared on our driveway after church Wednesday - dead! Well in my opinion at least that's the best to me, unless it's behind glass and not at my house! I did a double take at the snake and quickly rushed the girls by it until I could make sure it was dead. As you might can see it has red, black and yellow. So here's a science review lesson for you - "red and yellow (touching bands) kill a fellow, red and black friend to Jack." Well, this was a friend and turned out to be a scarlet kingsnake (of course I had to look it up!) Shawn was not happy thinking there might be more in our yard, so we called out our local yard man (thanks Blair!) to handle our weedy overgrown back yard.

Beauty and the Beast

On Saturday, I took Abigail to met Beauty and the Beast down at Harborwalk in Destin. Belle was in her blue dress and although Mommy was a little disappointed because I thought she would wear her yellow, Abigail was still so excited to be able to meet her and the beast. She was not frightened at all! Mommy and Abigail had a great afternoon just the two of us. They had crafts set up for the children to make, so after meeting the cast we made out way to the crafts. Abigail made a princess crown (what do you call one of those pointy princess hats?), a necklace and then a photo frame. We then went to have a cookie and smoothie together. It was great fun!

Texas Trip and Hannah's Birthday

For our vacation this year, we went to Texas in July. We got to spend time with both our parents and also celebrated Hannah's birthday in Texas this year! It was a lot of fun and it was great to celebrate with friends and family in Texas. The girls got to have an ice cream cone (they've had ice cream just not in a cone before) for the first time. Hannah had a "Funky Monkey" birthday this year for her 2nd birthday. Her orange monkey is one of the stuffed animals she likes to carry around with her. Ruth helped make the banana cake and I decorated the cake (I love making cakes for the girls in different themes!) We had hot dogs and cake at my parents and then we went to Boomerang's and bounced around after the party at the house.

The last week in June we had our VBS at church - Boomerang Express. This was the first year that Abigail got to rotate to my class - Preschool Choir. On Friday Abigail also got to sing on stage for the 3 songs that the preschool choir performed. It was a great week.

Weekend Getaway

The weekend after our anniversay (we didn't go on our anniversary, May 22, because it was Memorial Day Weekend) we went to Destin. Our great friends, Bob and Amy, watched the girls overnight and Shawn and I had two fabulous days in Destin. It was nice to take our time, not follow any schedule and just relax. We got to stay at the Embassy Suites in Destin along Miramar Beach. We had a beautiful view because we were on the top floor of the hotel. The beach was just a walk across the street. We tried some new restaurants that were delicious and even got to hold an alligator (you will have to come to our house to see that picture!) We also went snorkeling and saw many beautiful fish and found a hermit crab. Enjoy the beautiful pics. Maybe next time Shawn will talk me into going parasailing. I almost did it, but not quite brave enough yet. Yes, it was really funny because he was describing it to me and said that the parasail can take you up 20, 40 or 60 feet. I was thinking to myself that I think I could handle the 20 feet and maybe the 40 feet, that's not so bad. Well, we went to a restaurant that had several brochures of attractions in Destin and I found one on parasailing. I brought it back to the table and was reading it to Shawn and went into shock when it said not 20, 40, 60 but rather 200, 400, 600 feet! Well, I still have to do some thinking about that!

Sweet Sisters

Just had to show off how sweet my two girls are becoming! Many times I will turn around in the back and they are holding hands. We were on our way to a birthday party dressed in princess outfits when I turned around to find them being so loving. Hannah cannot go to bed without hugging and kissing sister and many times Abigail will be the one to help calm Hannah down when she is crying. So special! I pray they can always be this sweet with one another.

Rainy Day Fun

It has been raining all day today and all night last night, so it is very wet outside! Since we couldn't take the girls out, not even on the porch which was wet, we built a fort inside. I tried making one and Shawn came to my rescue and made a better one. He'll just have to move the furniture back into place! When I change the sheets on our bed, I try to make a fort for the girls to play in.

Tumbling

Today I took Abigail to a tumbling class to try it out to see if she liked it. The owner/coach came out to help Abigail at the very beginning of class and then she also had another coach that stayed with her much of the time. The started out running around the mat to warm up and then did stretches. Then they taughte her how to do a bridge (with her back off the mat, using her feet and hands to hold herself up). They even worked on cartwheels with her and two types of rolls. I think she had a good time. Hannah wanted to get out there with big sister and do what she did. One day. The pictures didn't turn out very well because of the lighting.

It's hard to believe that I am 32 now. Time does fly. Shawn was so sweet and treated me like a queen for my birthday. He cleaned house, got me flowers and my favorite candy (gummy bears in case you were wondering) and my favorite soft drink (root beer, which I never buy because it's a treat). As if that was not enough he also gave me the newest Casting Crowns CD and to top that off he gave me a gift certificate to three hours of bliss at the new day spa in town (this was for Mother's Day, too!) I am very blessed with a wonderful family. We had a fabulous time at dinner. We went to a restaurant in Niceville called Boathouse Landing. We requested a table outside and the weather was perfect. Shawn even had the waitress bring me my favorite dessert, key lime pie. (In case you've noticed I've dropped all the hints of my favorite things so everyone reading this can remember for next year - just joking!) It was a wonderful day.

Boomerang's

Last but not least, on the day before we left Nana and Papas we went to one of the neatest places for kids (and grownups if you really want a good workout). It's a new place called Boomerang's. It is basically all the big blow-up jump houses, slides and activity stations you could think of under one roof! They have a toddler section with a much smaller version and also a soft padded playroom. Abigail was a little concerned at first about going on the bigger ones. Some of them had tunnels you had to crawl through that were a little dark so she was scared a bit. I went through with her on a couple and that was all it took. She kept going back again and again to the same one until I showed her another one. A few she did on her own. I was so proud of her for trying new things! That's a big accomplishment for her. Hannah on the other hand was content in her toddler area. I took her with me on one of the bigger slides two times and she did not like either time. This was a shock because she is such a little monkey and loves to climb on everything and get into everything (new nickname - Tiny Tornado!). It was a blast and so great because we pretty much had the whole place to ourselves because the big kids were still in school. A great ending to a great trip. Thank you Nana and Papa for everything.

First Real Haircut

We took Abigail to a place called Cool Cuts 4 Kids. They have fire trucks and taxis to sit in for your haircut and a movie to watch. A great distraction for Abigail. I have trimmed her hair some, but I wanted it to be cut well by a professional this time. Not too much off, but it does look cute (of course, look who's little face is under that hair!) It was a fun time. Of course, Hannah wanted to sit in one of the cars, too.

Church Festival

Also during our visit with Nana and Papa we took the girls to a church festival. They had bounce houses and the usually games, like picking up ducks with numbes, throwing bean bags through the hole, etc. But this festival was very special for Abigail. They had ponies to ride! She was so excited that she rode twice. They also had a petting zoo. Hannah did not want to ride the pony and she wasn't sure about being in the same pen with so many animals. We also got to ride a fire truck wagon which was basically a tractor pulling a trailer that was decorated like a fire truck. But that was Hannah's highlight of the festival. Great fun!

The Zoo

During our visit with Nana and Papa we had some great fun. We went to the zoo one day and boy was it hot! Abigail's favorite animal was the giraffe and I think Hannah enjoyed the monkeys and apes. A lot of the animal's were taking naps or weren't out in the sun (maybe should have taken the hint frm them!). But I think they had a great time.

Beach Day

We took the girls to the beach today. It was quite windy and the water was so chilly, but we had fun. Since Easter is behind us now, Shawn took off yesterday so we went to the park and then today we headed for the white sands and emerald water. We were going to stop in Fort Walton, base side, but the water looked very murky, so we headed for our fav spot, Henderson Beach State Park. It was nice because it was not very crowded. It did not feel very hot today which made it very nice. It was so windy that we did not put up the tent we borrowed. We got away later than we wanted this morning, but I think that was actually for the best so that the day could warm up a bit. We had lunch at the beach, although Hannah kept snacking for most of the morning as soon as we arrived! Abigail tried the water but decided the waves were a little big and also cold! Hannah would not go near the water (no surprise). We made sandcastles and Hannah made sure that we put the sand back (knocked them down). I found a huge hole someone had dug in the sand and we were all able to get inside at the same time. The girls had a great time playing inside that. Abigail found a ladybug that took her interest for at least half an hour. I was trying to reapply sunscreen and was a little too zealous and got some in my poor baby's eyes (Hannah) and then she put her sandy hands up to rub them and got sand in her eyes. She couldn't even open her right eye for a while, so I took her up to shower off and she did not like that. Then I had Shawn help me and we poured some bottle water in her eye to wash it out and that made everyone turn to see what in the world we were doing. Hannah then rested with her head on her shoulder. I asked her if she was ready to go home and she shook her head yes. Poor baby! I held her while Shawn packed up our gear. I then started off with Hannah in one arm, a lot of the beach gear in the other and keeping an eye on my curious preschooler toting her buckets behind me, still searching for shells. I can't help but remember the John Candy movie from the 80s where he and his family go to the beach. He is lugging all this gear and smashing into people as he goes. I always feel like that when we go to the beach. You have your towels, tent, food, extra clothes, chairs.....My arms were very thankful when we got to the car. I don't know why I don't look like a body builder yet with as much stuff as I carry - especially my 27 lb baby! After we loaded the car, I took the girls to change clothes and go potty and then we headed for home. We stopped by the store and got Hannah an eye wash solution (yep, made her cry again, what terrible parents!) After washing her eye and giving her some yummy treats, she was much happier and looked better. She did not fall asleep on the way home and entertained us quite a bit by being goofy while sister watched 101 Dalmations (Pongo movie). We made it home in time for a short nap. Sorry there are not more pics, the batteries quit in my camera. If you noticed there are no pics of me at the beach, on purpose!

Yes, God

It has been raining. lightning and thundering all day long today. This morning the thunder was getting quite loud and Abigail was getting a little worried. Abigail knows that God sends the rain, so I told her that when it thundered God was reminding her that He is always with her and that He loves her. Easter Egg Hunt

Today we went to the church for the annual Easter Egg Hunt. Well, for our little ones it's more like "pick up all the egg you can" hunt. They make it easy for the little ones by placing lots of eggs all over one of the fields at the church. We heard some stories, played some games and then went inside for a video and snacks. We decided to leave early to go grab lunch and get the girls home for a nap (although Abigail sometimes forgets what that word means these days!) since they have had a long week with the musical. We will be able to relax a little after tomorrow!

Garden

Here's some pics of our garden. Abigail and Hannah love to "help" with it. We have potatoes, onions, cauliflower, broccoli, bell peppers (green and red), tomatoes, sweet peas, zucchini, yellow squash, eggplant, cucumbers (not doing well) and hopefully soon we will have carrots and dill, watermelon and butternut squash coming up from seeds. There are already some tomatoes, bell peppers and peas starting on the plants! I am so excited.

Strawberry Pickin'

Today we were going to Akers of Strawberries in Baker for a birthday party, but the birthday boy got sick so the party was cancelled. I decided to take the girls to pick strawberries since they were geared up for it. This week and weekend coming up are going to be so busy with the Easter musical that I thought this would be a good chance for some fun. It has rained a lot here lately so the patch was still a little muddy and you had to search for some ripe strawberries, but we found some beauties! Can't wait to taste them. Actually, Hannah already had a head start when she tasted one out in the field! Just couldn't resist. After picking the strawberries we came inside to the little cafe and had delicious strawberry shortcake and a hot dog. I only got two bowls of the shortcake because I thought I would share with the girls, boy was I wrong! I got a couple of bites of Hannah's and I think Abigail would have stabbed me with her spoon if I kept trying to get a bite of hers! At least Hannah shared her hot dog with me. We had a good time. Maybe we will head out there again when it's time to pick peaches!

After the Mickey tragedy, we went for ride on the train over to Adventureland. We took the girls up the Family Robinson's Tree house (Shawn and I were quite tired after carrying them all the way up and down!) Then we looked around and took a lunch break by the Pirates of the Caribbean in a taco restaurant. After lunch we went on the Jungle boat ride, which Abigail didn't enjoy the whole trip. We went through a cave during a part of the ride and I finally remembered that at home, I tell Abigail that God is always with her and she calms down. So I started telling her that God was with her and she settled down a little bit, at least no more crying! After we got off the ride she was talking about the hippos and elephants she saw, she just didn't enjoy being on it! Since it had warmed up quite a bit, we took the girls for ice cream, which was a mess, but they were cute messes!

After ice cream we went to Tom Sawyer's island to explore. By this point, Hannah was definitely showing signs of being tired as you can see in the picture. We we put her back in her stroller after the island, she fell asleep and got about a 25 minute nap.

While Hannah slept, I took Abigail on the carousel again. We decided not to go on the Dumbo ride or other rides because we were concerned they would be too hot to sit inside.

We headed back over to ToonTown for Abigail to get her face painted and to meet the princesses one last time. Shawn stood in line with Hannah while Abigail and I got her face painted.

Abigail chose the Pluto puppy for her face. We met the princesses again and then called Mimi and BeBob to come pick us up. As we headed to the main gate, we were stopped due to the afternoon parade. We arrived just in time and got to see the characters and of course, more princesses on floats! It was a great ending out our Disney trip.

It was a good experience for us and we want to go back. Thank you Mimi and BeBob.

We decided to get up very early because we heard the Monorail left at 8 a.m. to go to the Magic Kingdom. So we got up two very sleepy girls, drove through McDonald's for breakfast and had Mimi and BeBob drop us off close to the gate. We got inside and found out that only resort guests could go in at 8:00 and we had to wait until 8:45. But, we were the first at the gate, which actually made us a little scared. There were so many people behind us and the Disney worked kind of got everyone so excited we were afraid that we were going to be trampled. There were adults running to get to the monorail and just going nuts. Thankfully, we made it just fine. The girls were a little cranky which was understandable. We planned to go to Toontown to be there to see Cinderella and Mickey first thing, but found out that it did not open until 10! So we did some of the other rides while waiting. We then went to see Mickey which didn't turn out so well as both girls were scared. Abigail wouldn't even take a picture!

Disney Vacation Day 1

The only downside to our Disney trip was that we didn't have enough time. The first day (Tuesday) we walked into the park with masses of other people. Our first stop was to try to make it back to the characters - especially Cinderella. The first two we saw were Tigger and Pooh. The girls wanted to see them until we got up to take our pictures with them and then they were a little shy and scared, I guess because they are so big. After that we headed to Toontown and walked through Minnie's house, then we found where the princesses were waiting. It was about a 45 minute wait, but we made it through and it was worth it just to see Abigail see Cinderella for the first time. Hannah was actually interested in Belle and Aurora (in pink).

After the princesses we looked around the gift shop where they were located. Abigail picked out a My Little Pony and a Pluto doll. Hannah wasn't so sure what she wanted yet, so we waited. We did get her a pair of ears. Then we walked around some more - it is amazing how much time everything takes! I think if we get to go back it will be in the off season when there are not as much people so we can enjoy some of the things more. We decided to take a lunch break off campus and then put the girls down for a nap. Did I say nap? Oh, I meant more play time bouncing on beds and in a crib and no nap for anyone. Well, after an hour of playtime in the dark of the hotel room, we went back to the Magic Kingdom. On the way back Hannah fell asleep in the car within five minutes and stayed asleep through about 20 minutes of walking through Magic Kingdom. We took Abigail and Hannah to the Philhar Magic 3D show, but only lasted about 2 minutes since Abigail thought the instruments were really being thrown at her. We had to leave the theatre. After that we went on the Winnie the Pooh ride and she got scared when we were in the dark for a little of the ride. We didn't have a choice but to stay on that ride, though. Since she had been scared, we decided riding the horses on the carousel was best and she and Hannah loved it!

Shawn and I took Abigail on the Dumbo flying elephant ride while Mimi and BeBob waited with Hannah and she got to go on the carousel again. I think Hannah was a little upset with being left behind, but we were afraid that she would not like the elephant ride (which proved to be true when we rode on it again later this day, never know until you try it!)

In Toontown they had an area for little kids to play in a miniature covered playground, so we gave the girls a little break and they loved playing over there. Right next door was Donald's boat which proved to be quite wet, but the girls loved playing in the water. We took them to the bathroom for a change of clothes and then more rides. Abigail wanted to do the tea cups, so we took the whole family and rode. The girls loved it! Abigail laughed the whole time.

As the night approached we decided to stay for fireworks. It was beautiful right over the castle. We actually were in the back of the castle. Both girls were thrilled with the beautiful fireworks. After the late night it was time to head back to the hotel, which both girls fell asleep on the car ride back and stayed asleep in the positions we put them in until the morning!

A Red Alligator Named Rhana

Abigail has quite the imagination these days. I find her many times talking to her "friends". She strikes up conversations in the car, her room, anywhere these days. Tonight she let Shawn and I know that she has a new pet alligator. He is red and he is a small alligator that is even smaller than Hannah. He has lost his tail and has a band-aid and he even bit Abigail, which was not very nice. This talk about the alligator traveled from the dinner table to the bathtub. That is where I found out the alligator's name is Rhana. Such a colorful imagination! Sometimes it seems that she is trying to fit everything from her day into one character.

Valentine's Day

We had a wonderful Valentine's weekend. Shawn and I celebrated on Friday night by going out to the Wild Olive restaurant thanks to a choir/orchestra gift from Christmas. Shawn was very sweet and got me red roses with lilies (I had to give the lilies away because they were giving me a headache, I was so sad they were beautiful!) Shawn brought the girls balloons and small hearts of candy. On Saturday we celebrated what grandparents had sent to the girls. Abigail thought everything was so cute. That's her word she likes to use when she likes something.

She Did It!

Since October we have been waiting for Abigail to be able to ride her bike. At first she couldn't quite reach the pedals and once she could reach them, she had to figure out how to move them. I have been working with her for many weeks. She wanted to get it right and really wanted to wait to ride until she knew she could get it right. Today, she finally kept her feet on the pedals and made it go all by herself - twice! I was so proud of her.

Painting

On Wednesday it was too wet to play outside, yet it was very mild weather, so we went to play on the back porch. (I am so glad we have this at our house). Abigail wanted to paint. I considered waiting until after Hannah went to sleep, but then decided that the eisel has two sides and the girls could each be on one side. So I dressed the girls in their paint shirts and gave Abigail water colors and Hannah washable paints. This was Hannah's first time to paint using a brush. The girls had a great time, although when it was time to get ready for lunch Hannah had to show her drama queen side.

I'm Thankful For...

Precious little girls! It is amazing to watch them grow every day. Abigail is now voicing her own prayers that include all of our family members and the dogs, usually twice. On Monday she was sick and so we prayed for her. After lunch she stopped and said a prayer herself thanking God that she was sick and also that she would get better and thanking God that she was about to take a nap. It is great to see her little mind work to begin to understand that we can talk to God about anything and know that He hears us.

Yeah for Books!

Just wanted to show that my baby has reached the age of interest in books! It's just happened in the past week (along with other things, like separation anxiety and screaming when we don't get our way - Mommy is so mean!). Abigail took to books at a very young age and I was wondering if Hannah would ever want to sit still with me through one book. I keep books in her bed so she can look at them when she wakes up, and we try to read to her during the day. The other day she brought me a book to read to her and sat through all of it and then this week she picked one up on her own and looked through it, yeah! I know they all develop differently and have different interests, but I am glad that books are now a part of Hannah's interests.

Park or Horses?

This past Friday Shawn took the girls and I out to breakfast (my favorite meal!) since I was going on a retreat this weekend. After breakfast we were going to take the girls to the park or to see the horses again. We let Abigail choose and of course, she picked the horses. (Yes, Shawn, I admit, you were right!). We have not been to our park in a long time, so I thought she might pick that. She is my daughter, I should have known she would have picked horses, I mean, I would have, too! We did not get to see the horse that was so friendly the last time, but we did meet a new, even friendlier horse and also one that was sort of the same color as "Spirit". Abigail did not claim any horses as her own this time, but she did think that Spirit now lives just a short distance from our house! We also had a fun time driving the barn dog nuts as he tried to figure out where we were hiding the squeaky toy - a.k.a. Hannah's new shoes that she got from Aunt Carmie in Texas. They squeak every time she walks. Poor dog is probably still looking for that toy.

That's My Horse

A few months ago we rented the movie, Spirit, a Disney cartoon movie where the horse is the main character. Abigail fell in love with it. We finally sent it back to Netflix thinking that she might move on to something else. Nope. She kept asking to watch that movie again. We thought that we would look for it at Christmas for a gift. One day I had taken the girls over to a friends house to watch them while I went to the doctor. They had the horse movie! Well, my friend ended up giving us the movie because she said her girls never watch it. Abigail was so happy! We' have been wanting to take Abigail to see some horses around our area and even in Texas when we went, but it just hasn't worked out. Well, we didn't have much planned today and I researched stables in the area and found one less than a mile from our house, on the same main road to get to our subdivision! We took the girls out and they had all the horses outside in corrals. Abigail and Hannah really enjoyed the horses. There was one horse who was more friendly than the others. He would nibble and lick our hands and he even would nuzzle my neck. He was a real sweetheart. Well, that's the one that Abigail named as being her horse. (She's also claimed a dog that lives behind us as "her big dog" even though we have never met the people, nor the dog!) The owner of the stable said even though they don't do lessons, we could come visit anytime.

Two Little Princesses

After a great time outside earlier today (love being back in Florida with the 70 degree weather and sunny skies!) we came inside and the girls wanted to play dress-up. Abigail always wants to wear her Cinderella dress (that's the only Disney princess movie I've let her watch so far because there's not a scary monster/witch of any kind), Hannah had a hard time making up her little mind, so I picked out the Snow White dress for her. They did sit still for a pic, so here's the pretty princesses. In the last picture, Abigail is actually hugging and kissing on Hannah.

Daddy's Girl

It is so fun to watch our children grow and change. We have noticed that just in the past week they are doing so many new things. For Hannah, she is growing more attached to Daddy. When Shawn leaves for work and gives Abigail her hug and kiss, Hannah now puts her little arms up and does her grunting sound effects saying, "Don't forget about me!" She loves to say bye-bye and blow kisses right now.

Visiting Friends

While home in Texas, I got to visit some great friends of mine, Dinah and Carmen (Aunt Carmie). It was great to see them. It is amazing how much all our girls have grown! Carmen used to watch Abigail when I was teaching school in Texas. Dinah and I taught together. Our girls are pretty close in ages together.

Christmas

We had a wonderful Christmas this year. God is always so good! Our musical went very well and sounded awesome with the choir and orchestra. The music ministry blessed us with a very special gift and sweet card that everyone signed.

On December 21 we left after evening church for our road trip back to Texas. We thought that traveling through the night would be easier for the girls, we were proved wrong this year. We got away around 8:30 and the girls slept for a good while, until we stopped for gasoline the first time. It was about 1:30 or so and they were both wide awake. They were wide-eyed and looking around at all the sights. I think that Abigail might have dozed a little off and on and Hannah did not fall back asleep well until we finally entered Texas. I guess she wanted to make sure we made it to Texas! We stayed with Shawn's parents and then mine and had a wonderful time visiting with everyone. I will add another post for Dinah and Carmen! Christmas Singing

Abigail had her second time to sing in church this past Sunday evening, December 14. She did much better than last time. I have to admit, I did resort to bribery. Mr. Joe had given Abigail a piece of candy before church. I told her she couldn't eat it until after she sang. I encouraged her to stand nicely and try to sing and she did! I think it was more than just the candy keeping her there. Well, I have tried to download the performance video, but one was too big to post and the other was taking forever to load, so I will show the pics and try again tomorrow.

Sister Love

As the girls keep growing, they seem to grow to love each other more and play with each other more. Today, as I was getting lunch ready, I realized they weren't around me and Seth and I went searching. I found Hannah trying to sit on Abigail and both were just giggling! Then Hannah laid down and gave Abigail a hug. It was so sweet. This is not the first time Hannah has tried to sit on someone. She loves when Shawn and I are in on the floor to come and sit on us. Many times she has even tried to sit on Shawn's head! Silly girl. I also have to include my little nurturing Hannah, trying to make sure that Seth has his pacifier.

Early Christmas

When Mimi and Baba came for Thanksgiving, they brought an early Christmas present for the girls, their first real swingset. All the adults got to spend the week putting it together. It looks great and the girls enjoy playing on it outside. Hannah loves to slide and is already trying to climb the ladder by herself. I stand behind her, but really she does all the climbing. Abigail loves the seesaw swing (I guess that's what you call it). She is still trying to get the hang of making the yellow bar push and pull to make it go, but for now likes for me to push her. Sometimes it can be a bit of a challenge to keep an eye on both girls at the same time. I keep trying to swing with Hannah on my lap but she doesn't enjoy swinging. I guess she can't move around enough.

Hannah likes to do everything that big sister does, including using the little potty seat. She has gone in to their bathroom many times trying to sit on the potty (with clothes on). There was one time that I took her diaper off and she did actually potty! Well, I had to capture her curiosity on camera because as you know, Abigail got her picture taken when she went potty for the first time. The picture of her laying down is actually Hannah not wanting to leave the bathroom.

Booboo Baby Again

My little adventurer, Hannah, had another close call on Saturday. We had been decorating the sanctuary at the church and the girls were with me. I had to go upstairs to the soundbooth to create our slides for Sunday morning and I brought the girls with me, shut the doors and put on a video. I thought Hannah was watching the video (I should have known better, my little wiggle-worm!) but she wanted to come up the one step to see Mommy. Well, she missed the step and hit on her left eye and found the sharp edge of something sticking out by the step. I remember praying to God that night thanking Him for sparing her eye! God is good. Here's the pics of my booboo baby. And yes, she was smiling even a few minutes after falling!

10th Anniversary Carnival

Abigail and Hannah's doctor had a special 10th Anniversary carnival this past Saturday. It was a lot of fun. There was a clown and many different animals, cotton candy (my favorite, too!), a band, jump houses, face painting, crafts and free books. It started out sunny, but the wind began to blow and clouds moved in, so we didn't stay too long outside. I think the girls enjoyed it. The animals were both their favorites.

My Little BooBoo Baby

Our little busy bee got her first big booboo yesterday. She was walking around the house with my water bottle and she tripped and fell and hit her high chair. She did shed many tears, but after about 2 minutes was okay. She got upset that I wanted to put the cold booboo monkey on her and keep her still. How dare Mommy want to make sit for a spell! Then today at church, the nursery buzzed me on the pager because Hannah had fallen in her class and hit her head. So she now has a bump and scractch below her right eye and a bump on her head on the right side. Poor baby!

Pumpkin Fest Part 4

After the slide we went to the FBC site just down the block in search of food! We ended up getting pizza for Hannah and nachos for Abigail. While we sitting at a table in the gym, they had puppet shows doing movements to songs and other skits. Abigail was in awe. She did eat, though, which we were grateful. We didn't have to keep reminding her. Hannah off course, ate most of the piece of pizza we were supposed to share! That's my good eater! Not only did Abigail get to see a puppet show for the first time, but she and Hannah got to try cotton candy for the first time, too! We had a group of volunteers that sat down beside us at the table and I think the girls kept them quite entertained. I had taken Abigail to the restroom and when I came back, Shawn had Hannah on the table and she was dancing to the puppet music and putting on her own show they had several admirers.

We finished out the night by playing the games they had in the parking lot at FBC and the other slide I had metioned earlier. We had a wonderful time with our family tonight. We changed Hannah into her jammies, but her pacifier had broke, so she was quite upset most of the way home. Both of them went right to sleep once in their beds. Yeah!

Pumpkin Fest Part 3

The slide! There were two bounce house structures that we saw after filling out bags with candy. I thought Abigail might want to go inside the castle one, but no, she had her sights set on the big slide! We waited in line, had her shoes off and ready to go. There was another boy from our church that was actually in front of us and he and Abigail were going to go together, as was my plan. But once up there, Abigail didn't want to go unless I went with her. So I took my shoes off and someone graciously let me back in line. I slowly trekked up the rock climb like stairs with Abigail tightly wrapped around me and we made it to the top. Once at the top, I tried to slide down, but I just kept bouncing. She enjoyed it anyway. Later in the evening, at the FBC site, they had another slide and Daddy took her down this one, much to my relief.

Pumpkin Fest Part 2

One of Abigail's biggest moments of the night was going through two sections of Trunk or Treat. We did this right after the pumpkins and we were so glad because the people started to line up very quickly after we went through. Abigail was shy at first, but then got the hang of it and came out of her shell and went right up to get a piece of candy. A couple of people started handing Hannah candy, too and she quickly caught on as well. She would hold out her little hand from the stroller and people would just coo and give her what she wanted! It helps to be so cute. Yes, we did dress Abigail in her Clifford costume. I debated since we don't want the girls growing up celebrating Halloween, but after Shawn and I talked, we decided it would be okay. Abigail loves being Clifford at home and many people commented on her outfit which made her light up.

Pumpkin Fest - Part 1 Pumpkins

Tonight we took the girls down to Niceville for the Pumpkin Fest. First United Methodist of Niceville and First Baptist join together (one block of each other) to put on a joint Trunk or Treat/Fall Fest. They have had a pumpkin patch for the whole month of October, so we stopped to take a look at all the pumpkins first and to snap some fall photos. Yes, Abigail does have her finger in her nose in one photo!

No That's Not Chocolate - But We Wish it Had Been!

Tonight was quite an interesting night. I had planned a surprise early birthday dinner for Shawn with his favorite, crabs (they were on sale at Publix). The girls ended up going down late for their naps today, so that cut into the time I had planned for them to help make Daddy's sign. I went to the kitchen to start things cooking around 4:45 because Shawn usually arrives home around 5:30 or later. I got a phone call from a friend who really needed some encouragment and I felt I needed to talk and listen for a little bit. I was trying to work in the kitchen while on the phone and was going a little slower than I normally would as my brain was tied up. Shawn beeped in on the call and said he was on his way home at 5:05 - yikes! He was only 7 minutes away. I went and woke up Abigail to have her add some stickers to the birthday sign I made for Shawn. I was halfway through the vegetables when Shawn came home. We welcomed Shawn home and showed him to the table to show off his sign, gift and of course, the clusters of crabs. This is long, but I have to build the drama! Shawn asked if he could help and I told him the best way was to go get Hannah up from her nap. He walked into her room and very loudly exclaimed, "Oh my goodness! Kendra, you have to come see this!" I was up to my elbows shelling shrimp, so I washed my hands, dried off and starting heading to her room. Shawn is laughing very hard at this point, Abigail is going wild and my mind is reeling to what in the world Hannah Banana has pulled this time. What I saw next did not cross my mind. I walked in and saw poopy on the floor and Hannah standing just smiling in her bed. I then saw poopy in the bed. It took me a minute to examine everything else and that's when I really looked at Hannah closely. Oh yes, she had poopy on her nose, face, hands and the rest of the crib. Wow! I ran to get my camera - can't miss this moment! Hannah was upset because I left and nobody was getting her out. We were all in awe of the situation. Shawn gave Hannah a bath while I took off the sheets, cleaned the crib and the carpet and Abigail just kept screaming when she found a place where there was more poopy. My neat freak, Abigail, was totally grossed out and did not want to take a bath after sister because there might be remnants of poopy left. I cleaned the bathtub of course and got a new wash cloth, but I had to reassure Abigail that I did these things before she would step foot in the tub. What a night! Here's how it started: When I laid her down for her nap today, I had taken her pants off because it had warmed up, so she was just in her shirt and a diaper.

Things Mommy has learned:

1. Hannah is very different from her sister - she doesn't mind messes at all

2. Never leave Hannah alone in her bed with just a diaper on the bottom half!

3. Watch out when it is quiet in Hannah's room

4. Laugh, laugh, laugh and thank God for these humorous moments of parenthood!

Sketi Night

I know you might be wondering what in the world this might be, well it is actually our spaghetti night, a favorite especially with Hannah, but Abigail is starting to enjoy it, too, since I added meatballs this past time. Abigail is not the typical child, she does not like pasta or macaroni very much. I had to show how much Hannah enjoys her spaghetti (yes, she is stripped down to just a diaper!) and then show Abigail as well. Just some cute pics to enjoy.
